Hi, I’m Merideth — traveler, planner, food enthusiast, and believer that some of the best family memories are made while exploring somewhere new together.

An Atlantan Abroad grew from two passions that have shaped much of my life: discovering incredible food and culture, and helping families travel in ways that feel meaningful, manageable, and memorable. What began as sharing favorite restaurants and travel experiences gradually evolved into something broader — a space dedicated to thoughtful family travel, cultural discovery, and creating experiences that connect people to places and to each other.

I’m based in Atlanta and often travel with my husband and daughter, balancing curiosity and adventure with the realities of family travel. Over the years, we’ve learned that family travel does not have to mean sacrificing good food, beautiful spaces, authentic experiences, or opportunities for rest. Some of our favorite moments have come from wandering small towns in Italy, finding hidden local restaurants, spending slow afternoons by a pool after a busy morning of sightseeing, discovering neighborhood bakeries, exploring local markets, and learning how to travel at a pace that works for both adults and kids.

At the heart of this site is the belief that travel with children can be enriching, educational, and genuinely enjoyable — not just for kids, but for parents too.
